Field Trip Monday March 7th 2011 !!! POSTPONED !!! till Oct or Nov 2011l

Field Trip Monday March 7th 20ll
We will be going to Bill Orr’s Gold claim located about 25 mile East of Parker, AZ. We will be looking for Chrysocolla, Jasper, Epidote. Hematite and Gold .
We will meet at the Arco gas station Hwy-95 and Courtwright at 8:45am. We will depart from here at 9:00am. We will Car Pool from here if You want to parker via Lake Havasu. Bill will Lead the group from the ARCO station. to Parker.
Those that want to meet in parker be there by 10:30am. . Meet at Hwy-95 and Shea Rd, (see map). We will be going East on Shea Rd. Bill and group should be there between 10:30 and 10:45

Adventures in Arizona Archaeology

“ADVENTURES IN ARIZONA ARCHAEOLOGY” PRESENTATION AT MCC

The evolution of Arizona’s Native American tribes and archaeological sites in our state will be the topic of a Coffee at the College event on Feb. 24 at Mohave Community College’s Bullhead City campus.
Greg Edmonson, (member of our club) certified archaeologist, will discuss the evolution of the state’s prehistoric Native American tribes.  Participants will have the opportunity to view artifacts found at local sites and participate in hands-on, problem solving scenarios.  An open discussion focusing on the lifestyles, struggles and daily lives of prehistoric native tribes will follow the presentation.

This free event will take place Thursday Feb 24th from 10 a.m. to noon in Room 210 at 3400 Highway 95, Bullhead City.  For information or to RSVP, contact Natalie Lemire, Community Outreach Specialist at 928.704.7783 or nlemire@mohave.edu.

Mohave Mining & Lapidary shop has started up in Bullhead City. They are located at 491 Marina Rd. Phone # 928-239-8917. At this time they are open Wed - Sat.

Geology of Mohave County presentation February 26th 2011

Saturday Feb 26th at 1:00pm at the shriners club. The presentation will be given By Doyle Wilson.

Field Trip February 12th 2011

Field trip on Saturday Feb 12th will be up Silver Creek. We will meet at 9:00am at Silver creek road and Bullhead Parkway. The trip is 4 wheel drive. We will be going in sandy washes. Tools needed are rock hammers and pry bar.

Well We had a good turnout for the field trip. About 28 people and 11 four wheel drive rigs. The weather was great. A lot of nice rocks were found. I hope everyone had a good time. pics below.
