Field Trip to McCraken Mine Saturday December 10th 2011
Wayne Uroff will be leading us to McCraken mine;
We will meet at 9am AZ time at the Cheveron station off Interstate 40 and the Lake Havasu exit Hwy 95. From there We will go east on I-40 to Santa Fe Ranch rd exit, Then SE to Alamo rd, South 30 miles to Signal rd, Then west to McCraken mine. This trip is 2WD except for the last few miles which are 4wd or high clearance 2wd. There are about 40 miles of good dirt road to get to the mine. As always if You don't have 4wd show up anyway. We will find You a ride. We can also shuttle people the last 4 miles if you want to drive.

Field Trip and Report for Meteorites at Franconia, AZ Sat Nov 12th 2011
We will be hunting for meteorites. We will meet at 9am AZ time at the Cheveron station off Interstate 40 and the Lake Havasu exit Hwy 95. From there We will go east on I-40 to Franconia exit. We will meet on the south side of I-40 to Park the 2 wheel drive cars. We will then go north which is 4 wheel drive.
Bring a good metal detetor and or magnet.
We Had 24 people show up to hunt for meteorites. Todd our leader was very helpful, showing us what to look for. He even gave us a small slice of meteorite to help us set up our metal detectors. We did not find any meteorites but the weather was great and we found a few rocks.

We will meet at 9am CA time and 10am AZ time. Ludlow is 94 miles West of Needles, CA
on Interstate 40. We will meet across from the Dariy Queen. 4 wheel drive is required We will be going south of I-40 and Lavic siding, great place for Jasper. Jasper is laying on top of the ground.

Field Trip & Report Oct 29th 2011 Golden Shores
We had 12 people and 6 4x4 rigs show up. Al Larson found the most petrified wood that looks like is was formed here. Charlie found some that looks like it rolled in from some where else. Looks like the sand dune areas are the best place to find the wood. Hope everyone had a good time.
Next Field trip will be back to Golden Shores, Saturday October 29th to look for petrified palm wood and fossils rocks.

We will meet in Golden Shores at 9:00am across (East) from the Shell Gas station.
To get to Golden Shores from Bullhead City go South on AZ Hwy-95. Turn Left on Courtwright Rd (at the Arco gas station). from here it is 11miles to Golden shores.
Go past the power plant and Pintail slew and continue on to Golden Shores.
We will leave Golden shores at 9:15 and going out Polaris rd which is between Golden shores and I-40.

Mohave County Gemstoners Rock Show April 9th & 10th 2011
This has been a pretty good show in the past. Lots of vendors and slabs for sale. I will be going on Sat.
Show will be on Saturday from 9am to 5pm. Sunday 9am to 4pm.
Location is 3420 N Burbank Kingman, AZ
From I-40 and Stockton Hill Rd; Go North on Stockton Hill rd and turn right on Airway Ave. go one block and turn right on Burbank. Go half way down the block and show will be on the left. Addmission is free.

Hauser Field Trip Report
We Had a good trip and weather except the wind blew the whole time till Sunday morning when we left.
Wiley well road was pretty wash boarded but the road from there to Middle camp was pretty good
Thirteen people Showed up for the camp out. We meet John who lives by Middle camp. He showed us a couple of place's to hunt geodes including some 4 feet in Dia. (Yes You read right) see pic below.
Will take some pics of the rock I found and post. Will have some of them at the next meeting on April 7th.

Field Trip to Ludlow March 5th 2011
Saturday March 5th 2011 we will be going to Ludlow, CA to collect Jasper.
We will meet at Ludlow Dairy Queen at 9:00am AZ time (8:00am CA time.
To get there from Needles,CA; Go west on I-40 for about 92 miles and get off on the Ludlow exit and turn right to the Dairy Queen. We will meet in the large parking area west of the Dairy Queen.
This is a four wheel drive trip.
We will go to a few places in the Cady Mts in the morning and come back to the Dairy Queen for lunch. After lunch we will go to Lavic siding for jasper. Lavic is about 8 miles west of Ludlow.
You will find small rocks to boulder size jasper laying on the ground

Adventures in Arizona Archaeology
“ADVENTURES IN ARIZONA ARCHAEOLOGY” PRESENTATION AT MCC
The evolution of Arizona’s Native American tribes and archaeological sites in our state will be the topic of a Coffee at the College event on Feb. 24 at Mohave Community College’s Bullhead City campus.
Greg Edmonson, (member of our club) certified archaeologist, will discuss the evolution of the state’s prehistoric Native American tribes. Participants will have the opportunity to view artifacts found at local sites and participate in hands-on, problem solving scenarios. An open discussion focusing on the lifestyles, struggles and daily lives of prehistoric native tribes will follow the presentation.
This free event will take place Thursday Feb 24th from 10 a.m. to noon in Room 210 at 3400 Highway 95, Bullhead City. For information or to RSVP, contact Natalie Lemire, Community Outreach Specialist at 928.704.7783 or nlemire@mohave.edu.

Field trip on Saturday Feb 12th will be up Silver Creek. We will meet at 9:00am at Silver creek road and Bullhead Parkway. The trip is 4 wheel drive. We will be going in sandy washes. Tools needed are rock hammers and pry bar.

This is the big One!! with lots of rocks to be bought. Best buys will be Saturday and Sunday per Wayne Uroff and Pat New. Vendors don't want to haul the rocks home again if they don't have to.
Wayne said they have a shuttle that picks You up in the parking area and drops You off at the Vendor areas.
Also they have a restraunt on site. Directions; Coming into Quartzsite from the North on Hwy 95, turn left (east) at the Shell gas station on Main street. Go about 2 blocks and turn right on PaloVerde. Go 1 block and You shoud be there. Location is between Main St and I-10 freeway and Ironwood and cactus.

Direction; Coming into Quartzsite from the North on Hwy 95 go across I-10 freeway and turn right at first street. Go about one mile and it will be on the left. Located south of I-10 and east of I-10exit 17.

Field trip Wed 1/12/2011 to Pintail slew
Meet at Arco Gas Station corner of Hwy 95 and courtwright road at 9am. Wayne Uroff will lead us to the hounding area which is across the road from Pintail slew and north dike road on the way to Golden shores.
