September 16th 2014 Club meeting

First Club meeting of the year is Tuesday September 16th 2014, at 6pm. Meet same place as last year. City Bible Church 922 Marina Bld Bullhead City, AZ

Don't forget your finds of the Month/Summer

Starting With October meeting we are planning on having a geology class for about 1 1/2 hours  at each meeting. It will take about 5 meetings to complete it. Mary our Secratary has aranged to have Cat teach it and has had the class books printed up. Thank You Mary for handeling this.

Next Field Trip will be across from Pintail Slew. It will be 2wd and Ralph will be leading it.

Meeting place and Date change

Meeting place is now City Bible Church 922 Marina Blvd Bullhead City,  AZ.
From Hwy 95 go west on Marina, go past Lakeside,  church will be on the left
Meeting will now be the 3rd Tuesday of each month October tru June.
This wil start December 17 2013.
December 17th meeting will be Our Christmass Potluck and will start at 5:00pm AZ Time
Please bring can goods or ect for the church food bank.

Field Trip November 15th 2013

Field trip to get Apache Tears in peralite and geodes. Meet at Golden Nugget Casino in Searchlight, Nevada for breakfast 8am to 8:30 am Arizona time.  We will leave the Nugget at 9:30am for field trip.

Field Trip to Golden Shores

April 8th 2013 Trip to North of Golden Shores off Route-66. Meet at 9:00am  ARCO gas station Hwy 95 & Courtwright road in Mohave Valley. Rock hammers needed, Surface collecting. 4 wheel drive required.

Field Trip to Burro Creek March 20th to 23rd 2013

Over night trip to Burro Creek. Please see Flyer in the Burro Express. We will arrive at BLM camp ground Wed March 20th and leave Sat or Sun.

Field Trip Friday March 15th 2013

Field Trip for Squigly Jasper. Meet at Silver Creek road and Bullhead Parkway at 8:45am and leave at 9:00am. This trip is 4 wheel drive. Surface collecting for Jasper.

Pat & Gisela New will be hosting a Open house for Club Members of Pat's rock shop on February 16th Changed to March 2nd 2013. Between 10:00am and 3:00pm.  Address is 7344 Kaiser Drive Mohave Valley

Field Trip Saturday February 23rd 2013

Field Trip to Lake Havasu area, Doyel Wilson form Mohave Community Collage will be Leading us on this trip. We will leave from Love's gas station (Intersate-40 and Hwy-95 to Lake Havasu) at 9:am.
We are suppoce to go to 3 collecting areas in the morning. We will go to lunch and then meet at the collage in Lake Havasu at 1:pm to look at the collections of rocks from Mohave County.

Field Trip Thursday February 21st 2013

Field trip to look for Jasper. Meet at Carl''s Jr next to TACO BELL in Needles, Ca.
We will be leaving here at 9:am AZ time. This is 4 wheel drive trip. Mostly surface collecting.
We plan to come back trough Eagle Pass to Needles. It will be a full day trip

GPAA Gold Show Quartzsite February 15th-17th 2013

Gold Prospectors Association of America; will for the first time hold their Gold show in Quartzsite. It will be held at the same place as the QIA POW WOW. North east of I-10 and Hwy-95
The Show will be on Friday 12pm to 8pm, Satruday 10am to 5pm and Sunday 10am to 4pm.
There will be vendors selling everything for gold prospecting and mining including metal detectors. There will also be instructional classes and demonstrations. There will also be a metal detecting coin hunt on Satruday at the park.

Alice Mackin Memorial February 16th 2013

There will be memorial for Alice Mackin at the American Legion on February 16 at noon- 3 pm.

The American Legion is located at 2249 Clearwater Drive.   This is the same date as Gisela/Pat open house so those of you that want to attend both will have to go to the open house early.

Field Trip January 24th 2013

Field Trip to look for Gold. Thursday Jan 24th. Meet at 9:00am AZ time. Camp Mohave Road where the pavement ends, East of Hwy-95. 4 wheel drive required.

Field Trip January 14th

Field Trip Monday Jan 14th to Hunt for Crystals. Meet at Chevron gas station on the right side of Hwy 68 as You are leaving Bullhead City, headed to Golden Valley. at 9:00am AZ time.
OR meet at Griffith Rd (exit 37) and I-40 between Yuca and Kingman at 10:am AZ time.
Hy clearance vehicle required. This is ground collecting of crystals. You will have to walk about 1 1/2 hours to top of Mt to collect them.

Field Trip December 27, 2012

Thursday, Dec.27, 2012 Field Trip Leader: Mike Spicer (541-517-3393) There will be a field trip to the Golden Shores area as shown on Rock Club Map page #5. We will meet at a paved parking lot on the west side of Rt. 66, seven miles south of the intersection of Boundary Cone Rd. and Route 66 (on Route 66, towards Golden Shores), at 9:00 AM (AZ time). We will find Mohave Jasper among other solid rocks. 4-wheel drive will be necessary for this trip. This will be a sandy wash area to search for rock. Rock Hammer gloves and bucket.

Field Trip December 21, 2012

Friday, December 21, 2012 Field Trip Leader: Rick Bickman (928-754-3386) There will be a trip directly west of Searchlight, NV to find Pearlite, Apache Tears (Obsidian) and Ryolite geodes. A 4-wheel drive vehicle is necessary for this trip. Simple rock hammers should be enough for tools. We will leave the Golden Nugget in Searchlight at 9:00 AM (AZ time) sharp. It is approximately 15 miles to the dig site from Searchlight. I’m sure there will be rider seats available if you do not have access to 4-wheel drive vehicle

December 20 2012 Pot Luck

Don' forget the December meeting will be a Pot Luck which will start at 6:00pm.
Also instead of gifts bring Can foods to donate to a church like we did last Year.

I would like to thank Bill Gray for running the silent auction. I bought one of the grab bags at the last meeting. I was really surprised as to the amount of good stuff in the bag for only $2.00. a lot of the stuff in these bags and in the silent auction are donated by Bill and other members. All the money goes to the club so competive bidding is encouraged!.
Don’t forget to bring Rocks and things you find this month to the next meeting and see Alice Mackin She will be running the Find of the month at the meetings.

It is looking like this will be a good year for field trips. Hope to see everyone at them. Don’t for get we also have a find of the day prize. If You have any good suggestion on a place to go or would like to lead a field trip please see Rick Bickman.

If You don’t know what it is, write down PLEASE TELL ME WHAT IT IS.
Voting on ItemsDuring break club members will vote one time for their favorite item. by putting a check mark on the paper next to the item, You like the most.

Field Trip Colorado River Museum

Friday November 16th 2012
We will meet at 10:00am at the Museum.
From Hwy 95/68 and Lauglin bridge go north on Hwy 68 about 1/4 mile and turn left into Museum.
This will be a guided tour for us and will be a $2.00 donation per person.
